Letra de The Song of the Coward de Johnny Cash
In every war there is brave men that risk their lives serving their country above and beyond the call of duty.
However here is an old song that tells about the attitude of some fighting or non-fighting men who proved to be not much of value when it comes to fighting whether in the civil war of a 100 years ago or in the bloody battle that is raging in Vietnam now.
Really not many Americans apply to this story of the coward, it's just what we call this the song of the coward.
Well just before the battle mother
I was drinking mountain dew
It was when I saw the enemy are coming
And to the rear I quickly drew.
Back were the straklers were a flying
Thinking of their homes and wives
It was not the enemy I feared dear mother
But I feared my own dear precious live.
Now I hear the bugle sound and mother
But my soul is ready for the praise
That if I can find me just a hole to hide in
I'm sure that I will be OK
Discretion is the better part of valor
At least that is what some people say
That if I can find me a hole to hide in
I'm sure that I will be OK
